Thank You's
All of the schools below received a "Kindness Grant" in September, 2007.

Garrison Memorial Elementary PTA
Schickshinny, PA
Children are being encouraged to fill invisible buckets with kind acts for their "HAVE YOU FILLED A BUCKET TODAY" Program.
They are working on publishing their own book on kindness.
The children are also planning to paint the wall around the playground with acts of kindness.
Children made up a list of "WAYS I CAN BE KIND IN SCHOOL" and 'WAYS I CAN BE KIND IN MY COMMUNITY."
They drew pictures of kind acts on paper windmills and put along the sidewalks in front of the school.

Mid-Valley Elementary Center
Throop, PA
Each class was canvassed to get ideas on how to make their school a kinder place; a place where every child would look forward to coming to school.
They plan on having a "WELCOME GET TOGETHER" for all new students so they can feel a part of the school.
When they purchase new books they will give used books to underprivileged children.
The will have fund raisers to contribute to special causes.
They have a "CAUGHT YOU CARING" award program. When a child is caught doing a kind act, his name would be announced over the PA system and given a certificate and pencil to match. They are making a bulletin board to post dedications to these students.

Mehoopany Elementary School
Mehoopany, PA
At the end of the month, children who have performed acts of kindness are recognized by the principal who announces their names over the intercom and also calls parents to inform them of their child's kinds acts.

Wallenpaupack South Elementary School
Newfoundland, PA
Students at this school presented a musical titled, "Lets Pass It On." It encourages students to pass on good deeds promoting positive feelings that in turn make the world a happier place.

Preston Area School
Lakewood, PA
The students at this school began their program with children completing a survey, "WHAT KIND OF PERSON AM I?" This gave them a base to build on by discovering what their values were and to take a look at themselves and how they treat other people. Then they established bank accounts in 'THE BANK OF GOOD DEEDS." These deed books were then used to track random acts of kindness. These deeds were tracked throughout the entire program; it helped to make the students aware of their actions and to take the time to help others when the opportunity arose.
They also created a program called, "TAG YOU'RE IT." The idea is to help others through acts of kindness and actions whenever possible. The feedback from the school and the community has been very positive. This program has spread through word of mouth and local newspapers and has reached as far as Virginia, Massachusetts, Florida, New Jersey, New York and throughout Pennsylvania. Like the PAY IT FORWARD promise, they would like to see their program travel throughout the world.
