They will be stressing community services. The school community is based on respect for one another and responsiblity to care for those around us.

Mayfield Elementary School
Mayfield, PA
The Kindness Committee at Mayfield Elementary School established a "BE A PAL Program." They focus on:
The children, guided by the committee, provided winter coats for 20 needy children and adopted 2 families for Christmas.
They are selling "Smencils" (Pencils with various scents) as a fund raiser for their various Kindness projects.
Five young mothers are working with this program with the blessings of the principal.

Tunkhannock Area Middle School
Tunkhannock, PA
They created a program called, "THE BOOMERANG EFFECT" (reaching out to others-great feelings always come back to you). This group with assisted and continues to assist a new Soup Kitchen in their area. At Halloween
they went out "Feeding and Treating" instead of trick or treating and all contributions collected went to the Soup Kitchen.
They have done various fund raisers to help the kitchen feed the poor and destitute and will continue to work with the kitchen by volunteering etc to ensure the success of this endeavor.

Bear Creek Community Charter School

This school created a "WALL OF CARING." Students engaged in acts of kindness are rewarded with kindness medals and photographs and they are posted on their "WALL OF CARING."
Each month they have a different theme as a guide for recognizing and celebrating acts of kindness such as:
Choose forgiveness and forgetting
Choose a positive **AT**TITUDE
Choose the Golden Rule
Choose manners, kindness, ect.
